Hello. I think I know the answer but feel like I need back up.
A beloved pekin, Toots, died recently and when the Wyandotte bantam went broody I thought it was an opportunity to try and hatch her last eggs. We have a lovely lavender pekin cockerel. I popped the last of Toot’s eggs under her plus one from a lavender and one from a black drizzle bantam. Shirley the broody has sat diligently for 6+ days. One egg cracked but I waxed it but I don’t think any are fertile. Can you confirm this please? If this is the case should I
1)try and break Shirley’s brrodiness for her health?
2) put more of the other bantams eggs in (see cracked fresh egg pictures) first is frizzle, second is lavender and third is welsummer cross that I have never seen him mate (she is a lot bigger than him)?
3) try and get more fertile eggs from somewhere else and pop them under?
4) let her sit on the non cracked eggs a little longer and try and get chicks?
5) is Sidney the cockerel infertile or has hen lock down since November just got him down?

Help I just can’t decide the best course of action. When you love them so much it is hard!

Thanks and sorry for the long message.

Thank for replying. I’m. i lucked out and got some part incubated eggs at the same stage a few miles away that I picked up. REALLY careful drive home. After 24 hours under her I had a quick in nest check and there was movement. We are keeping everything crossed for Thursday.
