I am currently breeding Narragansetts and have a good number of poults ready to go to pasture. The question is what to do with my year-old breeders? Does anyone know if people are ever interested in purchasing small flocks of year-old birds?

Thanks!

That's a good question most people that I have come across don't want to spend the money it cost to raise a Heritage breed Turkey to eat.
If you count up the cost of the poults if you are buying them say 7 to 10 bucks each then the feed and housing and any other care say medical.
A Turkey could easily sell for $40 to $50 each dressed out or not any thing less and you might be in the hole for what it took to raise each bird.
There are a few out there that will spend the money but I haven't found them in my area yet still looking.
Breeders are hard to find in my area as well.
I have 17 Bourbon Reds and if I cant sell I will eat and maybe gift to friends and family.
But I will keep enough to breed.

I have been told that my Co-Op would buy Poults from me.

May be there is some one out there that is more market savey than me that can offer some good advise.

Your area will vary from other areas. In my neighborhood, people will buy pairs or sometimes trios of young breeding turkeys. It's pretty rare to find anyone who will purchase an entire flock unless the birds are really special.
