My friends neighbors have silver laced wyandottes. They are so sweet but especially Beatrice. She has a single comb so shes getting affected more by the cold than the others. Her once pretty comb is all black and shriveled due to frostbite. I've tried on multiple occasions to let them know that they need to put vaseline on it or help her out somehow and they do nothing. I hate seeing her in pain. I put vaseline on it occasionally when I am around and she loves it. Soooo.... I know it sounds awful but should I take her? I could try buying her but I don't think they would let me. I have ample room in my coop and experience introducing birds. I jut feel like she needs better care for such a sweet little bird. She will beg for cuddles. what should i do?

The comb should heal. The black part will eventually slough off. Next year her comb will be that much smaller, so less of a frost bite problem. Sounds like you should make whatever decision you feel is right and move forward with it. If you want to "save" the bird, then ask to buy her. Other wise, leave things as they are.
