what to feed a mix flock of rescue chickens and roosters

No, I understood that, but just a forewarning that when the avocados do fall. No need to yell.:hmm
Let the chickens learn the HARD WAY. You eat......You die..:lau:gig:lau
Now don't take it the wrong way. I'm just yankin your chain a bit.
In my observations, I noticed that chickens do know what to eat and what to avoid. Tomato foliage for one. Another plant is Deadly Nightshade, a weed that grows in my fence. Tomato, and potatoes are also part of the Nightshade Family, as well as petunias.
I don't grow potatoes, but the others mentioned I do have. I do not see my chickens making any attempts to wolf down any of those greens. Maybe they took a nibble and tasted something that they did not want any more of...:idunno
They go about free-range scratching, and making their own choices.
I guess if the poisonous item was the only thing on the menu, they may react differently.
Did you know that Avocado skins and center pit are less than desirable to be consumed by humans??? (persin)
The green interior flesh is very beneficial for us though. :thumbsup

Yeah -- you are probably right about that. My thinking is they are so delicious they just might want to eat them. My grandpas dog used to eat all of the fallen avocados and boy was she rotund!
