I wanted something I could feed them from my hand to get them more used to me handling them. Any ideas? The rir's are a 5 weeks old now and the black aust. and sex link is 3 weeks old.

Meal worm! They love them, but I wouldn't recommend long term. Otherwise, they will not eat much of anything else beside meal worm and treat. Hens also laying less if they don't get their favorite treat.

I have the freeze dried ones and they're not really eating them. I tried 2-3 times to feed them from my hands with them. Even broke them up but they're not eating them.

Mine are about 4 1/2 weeks old, I give them a few cheerios from my hand, meal worms (freeze dried ones), they go crazy for live worms, They grab it out of my hand and all of them try to get the worm form whichever chick has it.

See if they will enjoy some left over fruit and veg scraps. Our girls enjoy lots of scraps and because they are free range they eat the weeds and the bugs in the garden - and mums new lavender plants!

This evening will be their first time to really FREE range. Going to try them just before dark and let them free range for about 30-45 minutes and see how it goes. Man I sure hope they will go back IN the pen for me! I'm a little worried! lol BUT they HAVE been in the pen for about 8 or more days now so they should KNOW where home is.
