The Old Folks Home

Hope everyone isn't so old that they went to bed at 6PM!
Also hope everyone is avoiding the flu. Folks over are Granny's place is have a hard time with it.

We have a new member of the family. Somebody dumped a puppy on the road outside our house. I found her coming back from taking care of the chickens. Little thing was sitting there bawling her heart out. Took her to the vet today. 8 weeks old, mostly border collie. She has a perfect white 'Pi' symbol on her chest so we named her.....Pi. What a blessing she is.

Other than dealing with a pinched nerve in my back, I've avoided getting sick.....so far....keeping my fingers crossed. I usually hibernate in the winter but between dealing with my back and taking Pi to the vet that habit is out the window for the winter I fear.

Take care everyone.
Congratulations!

Thanks Ron.

DH took this picture of her with Buck this afternoon out on the deck. Buck follows her around like she is a lamb who insists on breaking flock and won't listen to him when he tries to get her to get back where she belongs and she just adores him even though he nips her when she doesn't listen to him.

How is that going? With the cataracts gone, is your vision way better? Do you like it?
Yes, I had my right eye done first, then the other right around when we closed on the house. The cataracts pretty much blur things. I have a new prescription, so will get new glasses soon.

It has been a good day today. Had 4 great grand kids and their parents here to celebrate their Mom's (my youngest daughters) birthday. I baked her favorite cake, lasagna with a green salad and made lemon sugar cookies for them to share. There are 4 cookies left in the jar. Pa has requested a batch for himself.

Those cookies sound good.

Heel low:

Only took me 11 years but I finally painted the lettering and hung my sign for our Hatching House.

Love this time of year, things I don't get to because I'm busy outside, the inside things get some attention.

Hung the sign up this evening.

Feed buckets in all the pens are topped up and with bit of a freezing reprieve in the works...don't have to smash out 25+ rubber buckets every day. Be a thin topping of ice for the next week before it goes down to -30C, or so they are forecasting. They also say -40C coming up in three weeks but they can't seem to get the present day figured out so we'll see.

Hated the ice frozen on everything on the 4th. :rant

Ram lambs are enjoying complaining about the state of their Alfalfa flakes.

Such goofs. Nothing more selfish than a baby...never mind two. Oh well, they are cute enough. Rams go in with the ewes this month. Get to repeat being a lawn chair shepherd...dog on each side and camera ready to click a pic.
