What to feed momma...

what kind of food should I feed a broody hen, especially a hen that needs some help in the looks department with her feathers???

Mine just hatched out some eggs yesterday and today and she looked rough before going broody, poor gal. Just in the last few days did I just start putting some of her normal food in the nest box. I also put in a water dish, but watched her drink and took it out when she seemed done. I didn't want it spilling onto the eggs. Funny thing, I've never seen a grateful chicken until I did that. LOL I think if you give her some protein that is supposed to help in growing feathers. Maybe chop up a boiled egg and hand feed it to her or drop it in the nest box and see if she likes it.

what kind of protein, do they have some vitamins or supplements for them?

protein like cooked egg or maybe sunflower seeds and such, nothing major. I think people only give supplements if the chicken is sick.
