What to feed my chickens

I need to know what all I can feed my chickens, feed is so high and because of illness I can't afford it right now. I am in the process of trying to down size till things are better, but untill then what else is good for them to eat ?

When i mow the grass i feed it to them. Has to be very fresh though. I also feed some table scraps but be carefull about that. For the grass clippings I put them right into a 10 pound feeder take of the top and there is a tower of fresh grass left that will be gone in about an hour. But you still have to feed them a little grains.

Chickens in general will eat most things moving around your backyard ( Bugs, Worms, and Slugs ) I have a couple of compost sites that I let the chickens forage. And they feed very well from that. And I sometimes flood my garden to get all the bugs and worms out in the open and let my chicken loose there. They still eat some chicken feed but it balances out to half natural foods and half grain. So my chicken grain actually last longer.
