what to feed peacocks???

What was the total mix? Sometimes peafowl will leave sunflower seeds alone for the most part when they have nutrition that sunflower seeds have to offer.

They don't know ... now ... but they will learn to appreciate!Plants like grass ... that's a plus!... in winter cabbage.

Hate to sound dumb, but what's scratch??  I'm from the uk and not heard of it, perhaps we call it something different here?

scratch is a mixture of different seeds and craacked corn

a couple of months ago i bought 3 peacocks, and i've been feeding them chicken scratch and leyena (which is also for chickens) on a daily basis. i mix it like 30% scratch and 70% leyena (somehow they like the scratch more than the leyena!!! they pick it from the bowl of food and leave most of the leyena there!!!). now and then i feed them a little bit of dog food just as a treat, also some watermelon, or any other fruit that is too ripe, like bananas, apples etc...

i want to know if im feeding them the right food, or if i should buy game bird food? i read they need 30% protein on their diet, so im trying to figure out how to give it to them...

anybody has suggestions?

I feed mine chicken scratch mixed with blanched peanuts ans shelled sunflower seeds for treats, and they always have access to my layer food. They are amazingly healthy.

I don't have the females yet. I want to let them free range after they are established.

I started with one male and this happened. We live in a neighborhood of one acre lots and these guys are just part of the tapestry. The male is mine.
