What to Feed Quail

20% to 24% protein is adequate for adult quail...in fact, I raise all my birds from hatch to death on a complete and balanced feed ration of 24% protein.
You only want to give mealworms as a treat, and then, no more than 10% of their total dietary intake.
Ok, thank you so much for the information. If chick stater meets their protein and calcium needs when supplemented with oyster shells would you think it is fine to feed?

Whatever you choose, make sure you grab crumble, not pellets.
Why crumbles over pellets? I get it when they're young chicks, but I get a crapload less waste with pellets than crumbles. Even with a the feeder being a container to catch what they rake out, they'd still yeet crumbles out of the cage. I haven't seen this issue with pellets.

Pellets are too big for them to eat.
