I just got her on Saturday and her DOB is 7/13/09. The guy said he was feeding her non medicated feed and cracked corn & grass clippings. I have on hand Nutrena medicated chick starter and also 25% non medicated chick starter for turkeys. I have been mixing the 2, any suggestions? I also have Nutrena pullet grower and various adult foods.

Thanks.

Feed it medicated starter 25% is good, drop the crack corn and grass, also should worm with safe guard for goats(panacure) 3cc per gal of water for 3 days then again in 10 days. Welcome to the peafowl world.

I only have ivermectin injectible on hand but will order the panacur. I have the safeguard paste though, I have medicated in 16 or 18% & non med in 25% so I guess I will still mix them? I can get a 20% medicated though on Friday should I order that?

The guy I got her from said I should keep her in the crate and in about a month she can go with the pea pair I have (female 3 1/2 yr blue pied and male 1 1/2 yr India blue white eyed) , is that too early for her?

Thanks so much Deerman. I am still quite new to this.

Thanks,

WHen I worm the adults shoul I also do it for 3 days in a row? I was adding 10 cc of ivermectin to 1 gallon of water.

Should I rotate like I do with the sheep between ivermectin and safeguard?

Yes I give safe guard for 3 days, then again 10 days later. Then 3 week later ivomec. Thinks you maybe using to much. I use 1cc on the back at the base of the wings. Ivomec one time it will last for 30 days.(ivomec doent kill the capillary worms)

I do this three times a year, 30 days before laying season. end of breeding season, late fall.

Deerman, since I'm new with the peafowl, too, I'm following your worming advice here. Approx. when is laying season (so I can back up 30 days) and approx. when is breeding season?

Thanks!
