What to feed with scratch???

Our chickens just finished their starter feed and we mistakingly got scratch to replace it. What food do you use after starter feeds and how do you feed them the scratch???

I'd provide an 'all flock' product and offer minimal amounts of scratch. When changing feed, it is best to do so gradually. Chickens hate change.

A grower or all flock. Many will keep their birds on that forever. Or, you can go to a layer once they start to lay, particularly if you just keep hens.

Scratch isn’t a primary feed. Opinions vary but it is either a treat or a supplement to normal food. If you’re feeding scratch, or anything other than starter/grower crumble be sure they have access to grit.

And if you go with all flock long term be sure they have access to calcium (oyster shell/egg shell).

You can continue feeding starter or transition to grower or all flock.

Scratch is intended to be used as a treat, not feed. May be useful in training. No more than roughly 10% of their diet should be treats.
