What to feed?

I would buy what locally available and reasonably fresh. I get a non GMO layer 17% protein from the local feed store. I barely feed treats.

Good luck

Gary
Unfortunately that isn't available. WE do have a local feed store, but all Purina (is this good)?? Tractor Supply isn't too far away and they have Dumor. Which I believe is made by Purina?

Look at the local options and what is most fresh. Then check out the nutrition labels to narrow down what you want to feed.

The feed I use comes from a local mill. I use two types of feed depending age of youngest birds. When we have chicks the entire flock is on a crumble, 20% protein, non medicated, starter/grower. When youngest birds are 10 weeks or large enough for pellets the entire flock goes to pellet, 20% protein, turkey/game bird finisher. Oyster shells are provided free choice to layers.

If you want organic, TSC should carry Nature's Best Organic (starter & layer), Dumor Organic Layer & Purina Organic(Starter & Layer). Your Purina feed store may carry Purina Organic.

I feed Purina Flock Raiser, 20% protein, with oyster shell separately for the laying hens. It's available within four weeks of the mill date on the bag (very important!) at my local feed stores.
It's worked best for me.
I'm not buying the organic because of the cost. If it's available fresh and it's what you want to feed, go for it!

She can also feed 18% organic starter.
