I’m picking up some more day-old silkies today and I’m supposed to be getting blue the last time I was supposed to get blue they were not blue what should I look for in day old chicks to make sure I’m getting blue

That’s what I did last year. I got the ones that were a grey color, but they darkened as they grew. I thought maybe there might be something special to look for. Guess just luck of the draw.Look for chicks that are blue.

They turned out black. The cockerel i rehomed, and the Pullet is now a beautiful black hen.What color did last years turn out to ?

Get a peek at the parent stock. How dark is their blue?
Probably splash... if blue was ordered. Lot's of hatcheries run their BBS together. Cute babies!I went to pick them up and they weren’t even close to looking like a blue. But I did pick out these 2 cuties.

I snuck them in with my 6 day olds. Maybe he won’t notice the new color. LOL
