Naming chicks is hard enough, but even harder when it takes weeks, or months to know they gender. The only one I named right off the bat was Button. It literally popped into my head every time I looked at it, just such a little Button!
I don't want to use my favorite name on a roo I can't keep. If this sweet little thing is a girl I'm going to name her Quigley or Millie. What's your vote?
Anyone else want to add your chick pics and have others vote on the most suitable name? I think in addition to sending in pics with name options, we each post something we just learned, preferably from the day you post.

I just learned that hugging can lead to one's eyelid getting pinched between the teeth of a zipper.

I vote Millie :thumbsup ,,, It is also a versatile name, that if it turns out to be a rooster, just switch to Milo.
I used to name my hens chicken themed, like Nugget, Purdue, Tyson, Jenny, and so forth. I never reused a name, so soon enough I ran out of options. Had to turn to whatever name came first to my mind when I saw chicken. Such came about like Red Rider. Chernobyl, MaryJane, Sushi, Pebbles, Effiteris, Lonely, Savanah, Dyna. and so fort.
Let me give an explanation on the Chernobyl name. She was a Black Australorp bantam. When I got her she was going thru a heavy molt. Look more scraggly than scraggly:old:gig. The nuclear disaster that happened in April 26, 1986 was still fresh in peoples minds. When DW First saw her, she just spoke out Chernobyl.:old:gig
Mary Jane is self explanatory. She hatched on April 20th. She just celebrated 9 year birthday last week.:hugs. She is my current oldest hen now. But not the longest lived yet. That honor goes to Nugget:love that pulled 13 years.
Here is a pix of MaryJane I took 3 weeks ago. She is currently molting, and looks like a Naked Neck chicken. She is a Rhode Island Red.

Thank you!

I like Quigley. You don’t have to change the name if it is a cockerel or pullet. I have a hen named Johnny (I don’t know why we called her that but we did), we got her after she already started laying :gig
She is an adorable chick, almost any name could work for her.
