Hello,

I am building a cabinet style incubator out of plywood. Can anyone tell me what i should use to seal the inside wood with? I assume i need to use something that will not off-gas and kill or affect the eggs i am incubating? Should i use a low VOC paint? I want to use something more durable that will soak into the wood better than paint but not sure what is safe to use.

Thank you for your ideas.

Jeremy.

I wouldn't paint the inside at all. If you paint the outside it should be good enough.
I'm a hobby beekeeper in Beekeeping 101 you learn real fast to never paint the inside of the hive bodies but to always paint the outside of them. It gets as hot as an incubator in the hive.

Hmmmm. I understand what you are saying. That makes sense. I keep bees as well. ;) My concern is if i dont paint or coat the inside with something the wood will absorb the moisture in the air inside and the humidity which is so critical will be too low. Am i being too cautious here? This is my third incubator build and i can not screw this up.
Thanks again!

Maybe you can use aluminum foil paper. It can also stabilize the temperature inside incubator
