What to plant for geese, ducks, chickens, winter forage

With summer in full swing (100 degrees last few days) I have begun thinking about winter forage to plant for my new geese. I was debating between just a mix of deer foodplot mixes or oats, or annual ryegrass (which can be sown over the bermuda without discing).
Anyone have any thoughts, experience, or good links?

I have a mix of Tall Fescue, White Dutch Clover, Alsike Clover, Kentucky Blue Grass, Ryegrass, Orchard Grass, Timothy, Lespedeza and other seed crop that I plant in one section of the yard for the ducks but I avoid Rye because it can get ergot and kill the ducks. I also plant winter wheat for them as well. But I live in Seattle so I'm not sure what will grow in your area.

We always plant extra collards and hand feed them that. Here in eastern NC they will grow until Jan before the freeze finally kills them. The really go for the big leafy greens in the winter

I plant snow.

Mine won't get anything close to green unless I buy it from the supermarket.

Sometimes I do wish we lived in a state with a longer growing season, ar at the very least a lower elevation.

Everything is a trade off...

I checked out the seed site and they were out of the winter wheat so I will check back later. Thanks for listing what you get for your birds. I had bought from Nichol's seeds
"chicken greens" Both the chickens and the ducks loved it.

Thanks for the input. Your local feed&seed is usually much cheaper than online stores. Freight can be an issue ordering online.
I buy a lot of seed every year and check with a couple of different feed stores for prices. They can save you a lot over big boxes or other retail stores.
I think I will plant some oats, some Austrian Winter Peas, and Rackmaster Clover Trio.

I had a large order coming into my local gardening store from that company so it didn't cost any extra but it's true you can usually find other seeds for pasture and grazing plants at the feed stores or they will order it.
