What to put into those plastic treat balls?

I purchased one of those yellow treat balls. It has been a very good way to give my girls something to help occupy their time and give them some additional activity.

So far, I've primarily been filling it with dried meal worms. Today I tried black oil sunflower seeds (BOSS) which also worked well. I thought about hard-boiled egg yolks, but I don't think that would work as well due to the small size and stickiness of the particles.

Any suggestions for other treats that would work well?

I tried that ball, my hens don't care for it regardless what I put in it.

Best treats are fresh bugs in leaf/dirt piles. Scrambled eggs, occasional corn cob, cabbage tether ball, quarter or half watermelon slice.

FYI- I felt the food was coming out too quickly, so I used a glue gun to seal two of the holes. Been using it this way for two weeks and the "corks" have held up nicely.

Also, I've switched to primarily using pellet feed as the treat with meal worms and sunflower seeds less often. Very happy with this setup now.
