What to use for fake eggs?

My first birds started laying eggs in random places in the coop until I put a couple of fake eggs in the nest boxes. They immediately started putting their eggs in with the fake one. I used 2 fake plastic Easter eggs, the ones that have 2 halves and you can put candy in it. I only had to do that with my first birds. I've added birds to my flock since then and as they grow and mature to lay, they lay where all the older birds lay so the older ones teach the young ones.

The funny thing about the fake eggs was the chickens knew they were fake. After the second day, they started kicking the fake eggs out of the nest. I'd collect the real eggs and put the fake ones back with a rock inside it to make it heavier, but the next day the fakes were out in the chicken run on the ground.
