Hiyas!
We are almost finished with our coop...yea...I want to seal the inside so it doesn't get ruined from their droppings. Any ideas on what to use?
Thanks

Paint works good

PRIME WELL FIRST (this is not optional, unless you want your paint to get really peely really fast), then apply several thin (not fewer thicker) coats of paint. My preference is for semigloss exterior latex, ideally pale-colored mistints or remnants, but it doesn't really matter hugely.

Or you could apply multiple coats of polyurethane.

Or almost anything else that dries hard and won't get egregiously peely.

Good luck, have fun,

Pat

Or you can prime with the same paint on new wood when using an oil based polyurethane enamel paint. The label says it is floor and porch/deck paint. It will run about $20- $25 a gallon.

It will save a step because there is no need to prime first with this- read the label.

I used "hardboard," for the entire inside. It is that dark brown stuff that peg board is made of, but without the holes. I did this so that I could clean off poop easier. I hope anyway. The chicks will be introduced to their new home in the next week. I found the hardboard cheaper than 3 coats of oil based porch paint.

I used frp panels-fiberglass reinforced plastic. Stuff wipes right off but it isn't cheap. My coop is small so I only needed 4 sheets.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but would self-stick vinyl tiles work? Thanks, we're super new to this whole chicken thing!
