I do have an electric fence, and those little *+#$%@*$ still figure out ways to grab a chicken when they can. It’s not just my coop that I am reinforcing but their already multi-layered run area. The elec. goes aroung the whole enclosure!! I am beginning to think that there’s nothing critter proof, but I will keep trying!

Fun, right?!? That's true for most of us. Last year it was rats in my coop, and most years it includes a hawk visitation.

Thank you all for your advice and insight. I'm happy to report that it was only one hen that was taken. The other was hiding in the barn after the attack and I found her in the morning. So I have 2 hens left. I'm putting them in the duck pen during the day and I've encircled the pen with an electric fence. Hopefully this defence will hold till I put all the birds in the barn for the winter. My neighbors think it was fox. Thanks again, Ileana
