What tried to get my hen?

Last evening- about 30 minutes after dark, I heard panic among the hens. I saw feathers, but could not find one- they are in a fenced chicken yard. This morning, she was outside the yard wandering around. What could have gotten her? I put hen heal on it, so we will see what happens. I will be on patrol tonight.

Hard to know what got after her.

I'd take her aside, clean that wound really well with Chlorhexidine or Betadine. If you don't have those, saline or even warm soapy water will work o.k.
You'll want to get a good look at that wound to see if there's deep tears or puncture wounds. Trim feathers away from the wound so it will stay a little cleaner. Apply triple antibiotic ointment to the wound.

I'd place her somewhere where flies can't get onto the wound and lay eggs, you surely don't want to deal with maggots.
