what type of duck is most comaon at teh feedstore?

They could have a range of domestic ducks, even crosses, i have a couple khaki campbell crosses running around here that i got from a feedstore nearby. If i had to guess what breed it seems to me the most popular ones in the feed stores around here are pekins and mallards. (warning ducks are addictive)

Our feed store had many breeds available. I think they just ordered large batches from hatcheries, because they just put you on a wait list and told you which day the particular breed was going to arrive. I originally wanted Khaki campbells, but they arrived about two months later than the muscovy we were getting. I didn't want to have a brooder set up twice, so I bought the cayugas instead because they were shipped to the feed store at the correct time for us.

Now I love the cayugas, they are my prettiest poultry.

I did not buy the muscovy from the feed store but instead bought them via internet and had them shipped. I was much happier buying at the feed store because, due to a shipping mix-up, we lost several ducklings in the mailing process. I was unhappy that three ducklings died so that we could recieve muscovy so next time would prefer to buy local.

around here it is usually pekins or mallards as well but i know they sometimes buy hatchery choice overstock because it is cheaper and you get some variety.

The local Tractor Supply here offered Pekins in the store, but had a list of types available by special order, but I believe these came by mail-order and not through the store.

There are two feed stores within about 15 miles of me. One doesn't sell any birds. The other gets them in three or four times in the spring and early summer through pre-order only. They offered wild-strain mallards, Rouens, and Pekins. I wish they would be a little more innovative in their offerings and not just the same old same old every year, but that is all they ever offer.
