I got them from TSC around 10 weeks ago. (walked in just to "look"

At first they were really blackish, but they've feathered in quite differently. They're both very sweet and they both turned out to be females:D. I'm very happy with them, but just curious as to their breed
Here they are with a Blue Swedish

Thanks in advance!

They look like black ducks. Seriously, it is a breed. They will look like mallards, but darker. First time I ever saw a tame one, though.

Well, you definately have some unique ducks!

They almost look like Dark Campbells, except they're not all that common, and their baby down is more of a burnt umber than black (I should know - I got 6 of them yesterday!)

I doubt they're Black Ducks (yes, I've heard of the breed) - I've never heard of them being domesticated though. Plus, Black Ducks have eyestripes, and a slightly lighter head (wheras these have slightly darker heads and, from what I can see, lack an eyestripe).

Perhaps they're some sort of hybrid?

Whatever they are, they're beautiful! I wonder what color eggs they'll lay?

They appear to be dark phase duskies, most likely Dark Campbells. What a great find for TSC!

They do look a little like North American Black ducks, but I doubt they would ever have those at TSC since it is not a type of bird sold through hatcheries.

didnt mean to sound like a dummy, but being a duck hunter black duck is the closest I've seen, but I mostly encounter wild ducks.

You didn't sound like a dummy at all! They do look like Black Ducks. You are absolutely right. It is probably doubtful they would have those at TSC, but anything is possible!
