What type of ducks for pets?

Sorry to be the awkward one lol
I think all breeds of ducks (bought up from tiny ducklings) will in fact make great pets.. If its the freindlyness you are after, then you must get a get a duckling shortly after incubation... If you aren't to fussed about the bond with your ducks then older ducks are good.. Males are more playfull espcially breeding season lol females are far more gentle but louder.. I believe they all have indivual personalities (which breaks the rules of different breeds) to get the best out ducks, is to treat them like your babys

I would suggest pick any that make your eyes twnkle.. but just check breeds for the obvious differences (Call ducks are loud) (Muscovys have long claws, learning which way to pick them up to avoid claws)
My breeds are Appleyard Kharki Campbell Muscovy and a cross breed, no problems with any of them, Infact they are all so well behaved I take them on the bus and in the car when i visit friends family hehe

they love to play in other peoples gardens

So far I have only had the joy of raising muscovies so I may be a bit bias, but so far they have been great, the only thing to worry about is ending up loving them MORE than your chickens, my ducks make me Laugh, and make the chickens seem boring!! They have very big personalities (see me BYC page for video) They are very sweet and I like the fact that they are quieter than my chickens, Sometimes the chickens get "cranky" and I swear bark orders at me, Muscovies are silent and ever so sweet in my book for it. The eggs are where it is at as well so even if you are like me and dont necessarily want to breed, the eggs are every nutritious, I agree over all with the others though, ducks are a good move, raise them with your chickens and they will be like mine, friends for life.

I am planning on hatching mallards this summer as pets. I hear that they make the best pets and they are actually pretty small compared to most ducks. I'd say either mallards or runners cuz runners are ADORABLE! maybe i'll hatch some runners too.....
