What Types of Locks?

We have opossums, skunks and raccoons to pry into a chicken coop/run. What types of locks do y'all use to keep these predators at bay?

Racoons are notorious for figuring out locks - even hasp locks and barrel bolt locks.

To be on the super safe side, you can use a hasp and a padlock

Does anyone know if you need to actually LOCK the padlock? I'm using a padlocked gate latch, but I'm not locking it. Am I courting disaster?

Here's the locks that we use on our coop/run doors. We usually buy them in the 4-pack from Lowe's.

Lock on the Yard door of the Chick-N-Barn...




Lock on the Playhouse Coop dutch door...



Lock on the human door to the main run...



Keychain for coop/run locks. I keep this inside with the rest of our keys.
