What vaccines do my chicken need?

Just thought I'd mention that Marek's vaccine (and those who have more experience, correct me if I am wrong) has to be given to the chick no later than one day old. I think that is why it is offered by the hatcheries.
My advice is to check with other chicken owners in your area to see if Marek's has been present locally.

Yes. If you are getting a few pet chickens the Marek's vaccine may be ok for chicks to be shipped from a hatchery. If you are breeding for good stock, I would say no, don't get vaccinated. This way you weed out the birds prone to problems. Then breed the strongest and fittest. The vaccine is a cover up for bred in problems. In the long term you end up unknowingly breeding bad disease prone stock, or stock with genetic defects. Letting things be as they are, you can choose the best, crock pot the rest.
