What was your biggest mistake starting out?

Going with a prefab coop that was too small for even the 2 chickens we had. Even though it was rated for 6 or 8. I have no idea how you get that many in there. It was not capable of housing them in the winters here as well. it required a lot of last minute adaptations as things changed.

My advice, plan and build your coop and run. Then get your chickens even if they are chicks to start with..

Ventilation. I lost one of my original 6 birds to my own mistake. :-/

I’ve also lost a couple of young birds that get stuck in places.
