What Wattage?

I will only have one lamp, it kind of has a reflector, it's a table lamp and I've noticed that it gets pretty hot(enough that I don't want to turn it off because of the heat) with a 60w. I will be ordering seven bantams from MPC, so I was wondering what wattage I should start with. I don't want to use a 250 bulb, is a 150 enough to start with?

It will depend on where you are keeping your brooder. I keep mine outside due to allergies and I find that with day old chicks I need the 250 watt bulb. Week 2 I usually go down to a 200W, week 3 until I place them in the grow up coop I use 150W

Will totally be dependent on your set up. Remember, week 1 chicks need temps of 95F then 5 degrees lower each week after

You have a thermometer handy to help check the temperature, then you'll have an idea of what wattage to use.

MY living room is set at 65F.​

I have my chicks in a 20gal fish tank to start, I am using a red heat light that is 100watts and is plenty of heat. I have always had success with this.
