what will i get if i cross a rhode island roo with my hens?

Guess ill have to wait till i get a barred rock hen and slw for sexlinks. Owell.still just as exicted to have eggs in the bator..

You can get both kinds of sex links that way. RIR roo X BR hen will give you Black Sex Links and RIR roo X SLW hen will give you Red Sex Links. Black Sex Links are my favorite chickens; hardy and friendly, egg laying machines. I've raised them for years, and they have been my best layers, consistently churning out more than 300 eggs per hen per year. The lay rate of my Red Sex Links has been comparable, but my Blacks have been slightly better layers in really cold weather.

Yeah my black sexys are my favorite too.i have 3 of them. They are so friendly and beautiful birds. Getting a barred rock hens have been in my plan so i can keep hatching black sexlinks. But i think its awesome bc slw and br are two breeds i already wanted so it will work out.lol

Thank you.wasnt sure what to expect. I didn't know that my leghorns would throw sex links.thats exicting!! I thought i had to have a white plymoth rock. Thanks so much rainbow rooster

Don't think they will be sex-linked since leghorn is not silver based. That is what I have read anyway.

I had a big RR rooster last year. We hatch several chicks form him and some of my EE and Delaware. I did not keep track of what egg came from what chicken but when they hatch some had the chipmunk markings. These look like a RR with a pea comb and few gray feather in their tails, they lay green eggs. The ones that were brownish look like a regular RR hen and lay brown eggs. Only one chick was white like the Delaware.

Yea he was a boy, and was bigger than the other. Unfortunately he was killed by something that broke his neck.
