I lost my BR hen and have a lone BBB hen. So my BR tom is in with the BBR hen and breeding her.

I just wondered if anything with a name will result or just be mutts? I don't mind as I got the BBB for producing mutt eating turkeys anyhow, but originally was going to put her with the Narri tom.

What is used to make Golden Narragansetts?

I believe Golden Narris come from Bronze stock so a Bourbon and BBB will most likely be something like a redwinged Bronze or something like that. I think. Turkey genetics are still confusing to me.

Click on the link. When the page comes up, click again on the red title under the royal palm pic. Another page /window will open with the calculator.
The calculator has the color genes for the male and female at the top. It starts each as a standard bronze, and by clicking on each of the genes, you can manipulate the combinations.
The C represents the white gene, B is black, R is red, D is slate, N is Narragansett and E is brown. When you have the combo or cross you want, hit the "calculate cross" box and the results of that cross will be shown.
Hit the "Punnett square" box and it will break down the different combinations you could get and the precentages of each. You can continue crossing the offspring by selecting your next breeders and continuing on.

It takes a little practice, but you'll catch on. Just play around with it. If you get all mixed up., click on the reset box and it will reset the calculator back to the original bronze mating.

Not all resulting crosses have photos to show you what they look like, but I'm sure with Kevin Porters help, they will be improving it. It is fun to see what the different crosses will produce. Amazing how many will result in Red bronzes.

I tried using it but couldn;t figure out the BR for the tom.
I have 4 blue slate hens in with a BR tom and tried putting a blue slate tom in there with them this weekend and before I could get him out they hens were pecking at him.. Going to try my more aggressive tom this weekend.

I have 4 toms that have grown up together and honestly thought that this one was a hen until I get it in with the other hens..
