What would a Barred Rock x Rhode Island Red look like?

The Red Barred one that I said I hatched looked a lot like the one in catdaddy's avatar. May just a tad darker red than that one but that is pretty much what he looked like. But yep, I have hatched BR X RIR and BR X SS and some of them were hard to tell from a pure barred rock, other than the roos, the roos are dark barred like barred rock hens so pure Barred rock roosters would be lighter should be easier to tell apart from the crosses.

Here's some pics I posted not to long ago. Now my roo is not full RIR he is mixed with some kind of bantam that has blue/silver in it.
But all my hens at the time were Barred Rocks!

I have BR/RIR eggs in the incubator right now. I am curious to see what they look like. I am wondering if my BR roo is pure though I dont think he is. I have 2 and the one thats mating looks different than the other they came from the same farm but different batch of hatching eggs that the woman had bought from a farmer. The reason I think he may not be pure is that he is darker than the other and he has green in his tail feathers and some gold leaking in his hackles. The other looks like a typical BR roo. So anyway I have 4 eggs in there due to Hatch Thanksgiving day. all are developing great so I will be truly thankful if they all hatch.

Just for fun I ran BSL and RSL (with barring, like with a Dealware hen) roosters over a red hen through Henk's calculator. The odds with both of getting a red barred pullet was 1 in 16 chicks or 1 in 8 of the pullets. I thought the RSL odds would be higher, but it was not.

Editted to add: I also ran a barred rooster over a red hen, then took the rooster from that cross and crossed with a red hen. Odds were the same as above.

PS Ill try to locate the thread where Tim and I discused the buff barred cross last year when I get some more time maybe tonite. Gotta go work on a tractor(not a chicken tractor either) a big tractor for the rest of the day.

Cowgirl, looks like we've hijacked your thread. Hope you don't mind too much. Maybe some pictures will help apologize.

I ran the BSL/RSL cross. I got that the same percentage will have the red/buff barring. What that means is that 1 in 8 of the pullets will be either red or buff barred. The odds of the pullet being red barred is greater than her being buff barred by quite a bit, but you may get either. I was not alert enough to keep the two separate. If you want a buff barred, use a buff hen instead of a red.

I have a chick that might be interesting. The father is a Speckled Sussex/Delaware cross.

He gets the barring from his mother. Those two white tail feathers are from the SS father.

I don't know what the mother is. The possibilities are SS roo/Delaware hen cross, SS roo/BO hen cross, and SS roo/BA hen cross. From trying to decipher Tim's comments, I think it could be from any of these hens. He said the barring could damped down the red to buff.

I do not have any photos of the SS/Black Australorp cross. She looks like a BA but is very camera shy.

Actually all these chicks are from these possibilities. They are about 5 weeks old. When you cross crosses with crosses, you really lose control on what you might get. The chick I'm talking about is the yellow barred on the left. Is this close to what you were looking for? I'm pretty sure it is a rooster.
