What would attack at 4pm???

I lost 14 hens to a fox in one afternoon last summer. all within a two hour period.
Omg horrible ..I'm afraid to let mine out now

Wow, maybe it was a coon or pawsum... Since they aren't ones to be out during the day maybe it was one that had something wrong with it. That's common. And sorry for that:( that's awful

Bobcats are extremely efficient and effective killers.  Good news is, they won't try hard to break into a coop.  They are all about ambush and not so much about pursuit.
Yeah I found that out:-( I bought a predator cam gonna see if it's still alive and around

Large dogs are generally one of the best deterrents of bobcats. The same cannot be said for Cougars. For those you would need XLGD or a pack of hounds to keep them away. There is a report of a Mountain Lion kill in NC a few years ago. It killed a 100lbs Pit Bull in the owners yard.

A Bobcat that is that brazen is NOT normal. Don't assume he won't be back. I suggest either kill it or trap it. The game warden might be able to help. Good luck. That pelt is worth a lot at least $100.00 also :) that would pay for a new hen.
