You can use garden netting. It's pretty cheap, and easy to attach to all kinds of things- trees, posts, rails.I live in northern Illinois. No, the "second" run is not enclosed on top, since it is literally huge. (125' perimeter, 5' high to be exact). The actual coop and run are fully enclosed in hardware cloth. I usually open the door to the run attached to the actual coop everyday and let the girls freely come in and out. The weird thing is that she wasnt killed in the outside run. She was behind the propped open door, by where I put their food. So the bird/animal would've had to fly into the coops run, and then walk around the door quick enough to catch her... I would've expected it to kill her in the outside area where theres no roof or doors, etc??
So sadmakes me so mad that they just waste the meat too... at least make her death worth it and eat most of the meat! Didn't even touch the breasts.. only the back and head/neck
Now to begin yet another project and figure out how to turn this giant space (on a budget) into fort knox.... how do you roof a huge outside run like this??![]()
