Yep...there's a RAT under there! DH said he kept digging and digging through all of the tunnels and all of a sudden a rat ran out. He has no clue where it went though. UGH! Would a rat kill chickens though? I can't imagine a rat killing chickens. Who the heck knows WHAT was killing them. It could have been a combo of rats, skunks, opossums and who knows what else.

Guess we will be adding rat traps to our trap collection.

There are tunnels all over like this. DH collapsed all of them after he saw the rat. He's now putting hardware cloth all around the bottom of the coop and burying it about 2 foot underground. I know that won't stop something from digging below it though, so we're going to have to set out poison and traps. All these years of us owning chickens and we've never had problems like this. I guess we should consider ourselves lucky even though I don't really feel that way at the moment. *sigh*
