What would I get if cross....(PICS)

Ok, EEs don't have recognized colors

but your roo is colored like an Ameraucana wheaten. He has red/orange flight feathers. Brown/read Ameraucanas have black flight feathers. This is the only real difference I could see in the two colors after looking at the pix. Am I missing something?
He is a gorgeous bird anyway no matter what color he is. I would just like to know for sure what color my bird is. He looks a lot like yours and I use to think he was brown/red until I started looking a pix. Oh my, is it to early to ask Santa for a camera?

As far as roos go, you'll probably end up with some silver duckwings. I'm not sure about the hens, since I still have trouble telling partridge from some of the other colors.

WOW - thanks for all the feedback! This forum is just awesome, and you guys are all great!! I appreciate all the feedback!

Gayle, I'm just guessing at what "official" color my EEs would be considered, I'm no expert by any means! I looked at pics on the Ameraucana website, and thought my roo looked like a brown/red, but he very well COULD look like a wheaten. I found a website of an Ameraucana breeder, and she had a pen of what she called "silver" Ameraucanas, one of which looked like my Sissy. But maybe she's not silver? I'm still pretty new to chickens, not having had them a full year yet, and still learning a lot!

I do want to hatch some of Sissy's eggs, but I confess....I love pretty hens, and I don't want to do it if they'd end up ugly! Yeah, I'd still love them...but only if they laid pretty eggs! JK!!!

Again, thanks all for your feedback - I think I'll ask my good friend Heidi to throw some of Sissy's eggs in her 'bator this spring/summer and see what I get!

Wynette, I do not know what colors your would get but one thing you need to keep in mind are the parents of both of your current birds, they will have a part in the color of the chicks and my not resemble the parents at all. I would just cross them and see! It should be a fun experiment. EE's are very much in demand and you have beautiflu brids to start with. I say go for it.

Good Luck!

From what i read this morning I think (all your cockerels will be silver) and (all your pullets will be brown/red, or a combo of some brown/red and some silver); depending on the genetic makeup of your male

Thanks so much for your feedback! Thanks especially, Tiki, for doing some research for me! WOW! This forum's great. NYREDS - WHOA! I'd get CHICKENS? AWESOME! HA HA HA! That made me laugh out loud. My boss is probably wondering what I'm doing out here...

Herechickchick, my chickens were purchased from a hatchery, sold as Ameraucanas, although I found out from you folks here that they're actually EEs. I have no way of knowing what the parents looked like, unfortunately. I know they're not excellent stock, but I sure love them. These two especially are really sweet, and I love the coloring on both of them! I think I'll go ahead with a hatch & see what I get. Hope the sweetness comes down!

Anywho, thanks again, all, for your feedback!

Hatch probably won't happen until late March/early April, but you can bet your bippy (always wondered what a bippy was) that I'll be posting lots of pics!

Sissy isn't really a silver, she's close, "but no cigar"

You would probably get a wheaten-ish looking chicken

It's nearly impossible to tell what you will get from EE's as the genes aren't pure and there are so many modifiers that can cause similar looking birds.
