Hello, I have a splash Cochin roo and would like to cross him with my lavender orpington hen. What can I expect in a offspring?

Note: He is older than this picture. Need to update.

In terms of colour

All your chicks will be Blue "split to" Lavender (not visual but carrying the gene)

Blue as a colour is fairly different to lavender. Where lavender is more uniform in shade and is usually quite light, blue can range from light to very dark (sometimes confused for black), roosters commonly exhibit darker hackles and saddles etc, and the breast feathers often have laces or darker colored edging on the feathers.

Here's my blue NZ Araucana rooster as an example: Big Blue 3.jpg Big Blue Chest.jpg

In terms of type
You'll get a blend between the two parent types.

I'm happy to be corrected on this next but I believe the feathered feet is a dominant trait. So your chicks will receive one copy from dad giving them feathered feet in varying degrees ranging from a few feathers to fully feathered. As a dominant trait it's a bit harder to get rid of if you prefer a clean leg - but it can be done with time.

I found when breeding a Pekin (like a cochin) to a henny feathered type that the boofy rump and tail was quite prominent in the babies. I bred it out over successive generations.
