This is Bandit. (Top pic) I was trying to figure out what color you would call him. I'm pretty sure his mom was one of my white silkies (Dixie is the next pic or it could have been her sister Pixie)

and his dad was either one of the two young Roos in the 2nd pic (Fred & Tilwell) ...

But could also be from a smoky color silkie hen that is newer to my flock and if it was her I have no idea who the father was because she could have come in fertilized.

I'm new to the whole Silkie thing so I'm trying to learn what each of the colors looks like. What makes it a splash or a Partridge? I'm guessing that Bandit is a splash because it looks like splashes of color all over him. But what color would you consider him?

And the two boys together... a lavender and a black? (or is there a different color name for the smoky dark grey?) And would they be partridges or splashes? or is there another term too?

Thanks for helping out this newbie =-)

  2. Looks like a mixed color, but I am no expert! [IMG]

The 'smoky dark gray' is most likely a blue. Your boy doesn't look like any recognized color. He is not a splash, as splashes do not have the red and black your boy has, they're more of a bluish tinge of white with darker blue splashes throughout.
