If the rooster is silver/gold how would he produce a pure silver cockerel when bred to a gold hen?Your rooster is what they call 'golden' (S+s+) . He has one gold (s+) and one silver (S+) gene. He's not 100% golden cuckoo (s+s+), but a mix. The silver looking offspring he gives is pure silver cuckoo (S+S+), the female gold cuckoo looking offspring is also pure (s+s+), and the male golden offspring is, like himself, 'golden' (S+s+)

WhoopsIf the rooster is silver/gold how would he produce a pure silver cockerel when bred to a gold hen?
That cross could produce silver pullets but not pure silver cockerels.
Wait.. I just re-read that. Doesn't make sense. I'd say there's some dodgy other genes in your rooster or your hen that aren't supposed to be there, but can't know for sure. Sorry this is beyond my genetics knowledge...Whoopsmy bad, he won't produce any silver cuckoo roosters, he will, on the other side, produce gold cuckoo roosters, the difference between the S+s+ and s+s+ roosters may prove hard to see.
