What would you charge

I have learned that, depending on the product, sometimes people make more money doing something for free than if they were to charge

I was actually thining about offering that service, I like the idea of charging a flat rate plus a minimal amount per live chick as HECHICKEN suggested.

But then would you charge a fee for however long you keep them after hatch? Since you may encounter some who take their time picking them up for whatever reason.

Anyone know what the pros/cons would be for such a service?

I still just like the flat fee for eggs brought.. Now like rebel cowboy, if someone comes to me with 6 eggs, and I'm loading a bator anyway, I'll hatch them just because. But if someone wants a full load 42 per bator, or if they want some other type of egg that is harder or longer to hatch, such as geese, pea fowl, then I would put those in bator alone. Basically if I'm using a bator to hatch someone elses eggs, and none of mine, then I would charge.

Just remember if your NPIP, you need to make sure your eggs come from an NPIP supplier.

I charge $2 a chick. I've not yet had someone come to me with eggs. I get them from my parent's flock, so I pay my parents $2 per dozen eggs I use for hatching. Even so, I still make a lil money.

I did it for free last year for a lady who was at the time unable to hatch her own. I just like hatching chicks and I didn't have to worry about brooding them out. Although I did get to keep the "pick of the litter" so to speak. I think I hatched almost 50 eggs for her and I only kepy 7. But as someone else stated, I already had eggs in the bator so it was no extra fuss for me.
