what would you do different to the inside.....

Place the nests away from the door. They like it a little darker there.

The perches you have figured out.

I hand my food & water, but still have trouble with water spilling on the pine shavings. I hate that!

My newest coop is 4 x 8 (ish). It's 6 ft tall in the back and 4 ft tall in the front. Here's a photo of the inside, before I put in the litter and poop tray under the roosts.

The photo is taken from the people door end of the coop. The chicken door is automatic, activated by a light sensor. I planned to do a regularly shaped window in the end wall, but made a mistake when cutting the wall panel.... erk. So I just used that bad cut to start the jigsaw to cut the window; now I kinda like the odd shape.

The nest box is a rear rollaway type, so I can gather the eggs from outside of the coop.

That's a horse stall mat on the floor, which will be under the deep litter.

7 of my 9 adult chickens roost in there at night. (The other two prefer to sleep in the A-Frame coop, where several of the hens lay their eggs. Right now, only one hen is using the nest box in the new coop.)

Dr. Doorlock, what a great website you have! Got some great ideas from your older page. Thanks!!
