I noticed the crossbeak when this chick was 1 day old. Now it is 6 days old and the crossbeak is worse.

She is being raised by a OEGB hen along with her 4 brothers and sisters. She happily scratches around, doing chicken things. She eats and drinks okay.

I know the kind thing to do would be to euthanize her, but I'd rather not. Would there be any interest in giving her away on craigslist?

Our silkie had the same thing and by eight weeks his tounge was dry and he was skinnier than the rest. My husband took care of him for me. I felt it was more humane and the longer I have them the more I get attached.

This is what mine looked like it is a little worse now...But she is prefectly healthy as long as you are not breeding she would make a fine pet..I love mine she even lays eggs....

Somewhere on here someone said you can sorta fix it. You have to tape the beak up and you have to hand feed and water her for a few weeks. I wish i could find that post.

My friend (with a whoooole lot of chickens) has one just like this. She's 6 weeks now and doing fine. A bit smaller than the rest her age, but growing and thriving.

If she's not suffering, then there's no reason you can't let her be.
