My eggs have been in bator for 7 days usually I would candle and remove undeveloped eggs. The dilema.....this is the first hatch that I havent had to open bator to add water or anything temp is at 99.8 and humidity has stayed between 33 and 35%. Should I leave it alone or candle? I dont want to jenx this hatch seeing how my last 3 have totally sucked and only resulted in 2 chicks. None from last. So someone please advise.

Hi

I am only new to hatching - but my theory is 'if it aint broke - don't fix it'.

I do often candle my eggs at 7 days - but always leave the unfertile ones in - as i'm not perfect and could make a mistake. I really only use it as a guide on what to expect.

If you don't mind running the risk of having no fertile eggs in there in 2 more weeks, then leave it.

That said, you can't harm them by removing them for a few seconds to have a look.

Go with your gut, it will probably be right.

I have eggs at day 4 at the moment and am having humidity problems - so will candle in a few days. But then knowing me will let the machine run its course anyway.
Good Luck

I usually check on days 7, 14 and then again at lockdown. There are others I've seen that do not touch the eggs until lockdown and then only remove any visably leaking or smelly eggs. Let us know what you decide and GOOD LUCK!
