What wrong this lttle guy

Hi again,hatched again 8 days ago,all chick doing great,apart this little guy in size and thing on its tummy,eating drinking very very livley pooping,chirping etc,just soo far behind others,was very unsteady ,going backwards and falling over for 3 days,but it's hot over that,and is just has up and jumping about as others,any ideas please Thanks in advance Samantha. Pics also showing size comparison.

What feed do you have them on? It might be a digestion problem, as an 8-day-old chick shouldn't have that swollen back end like that. Try a little bit of probiotics, like there are powders for their water you could give them all. It might help if there's a blockage in his digestive system.

I would try soaking his butt end in some warm water for a minute or two. You can put a little Epsom salts in there. It just appears to me there's a buildup at the back end.

I wouldn't give them anything but their chick crumbles, and when you do give them anything else, a little scrambled egg is pretty safe. Otherwise, they'll need grit.

Thanks,feeding 28% protein game crumb,been grinding it same as all the others,they are fine,umm what do you mean by a pribaoctic, sorry if I seem a bit dumb,thanks.

Probiotics are what humans need some of too. They help improve the flora in our digestive systems. They help keep things "regular," if someone's having issues.

You can Google probiotics for chickens and find all kinds of different products, most are added to their water. Kalmbach's makes one that's added to their food. We've got that, but also use Hydro-Hen for their water on occasion. It's nothing you'd add daily. Just every other day is sufficient when they're having trouble.

Thanks,I'm based in the UK,so will take a look on Amazon,and see what I can find,the little guy is pooping really well and they seem the same as the others,I've separated him coz of his size,the others were a bit too boisterous (only coz his tiny)

I hatch a lot, and nearly every batch has one that for whatever reason is a bit smaller than the others. Generally, once they get a few weeks old, they seem to catch up, but still may remain to be a smaller chicken. There's nothing wrong with them, just a bit smaller is all.

It looks like the vent is blocked, though I might be seeing things. If that's the case, you want to soak the rear until the blockage comes off. If it is blocked, this needs to be remedied quickly or it becomes fatal.

Thankyou,the vent is clear,but I still soaked it and that dry bit dropped off but does this look right please,thanks in advance Samantha
