Actually the Barnevelders are laying pretty good right now and their egg color has deepened in the last couple of weeks. The color had got so light they were almost as pale as the Orpington eggs.

That part doesn't bother me quite so much. Since the color is determined by the genes, I'm totally fine hatching babies out of lighter eggs at this point in the season. Guess I'll just have to see if I get the chance to snatch em up this time!
