Ameraucanas are a standardized breed of chicken with a beard and muffs that lays blue eggs.
Araucanas are also standardized, they are rumpless, lay blue eggs and have tufts (look them up, they're neat).
Easter eggers are Ameraucana or Araucana mixes. All EEs are technically is a mutt chicken that lays green or blue eggs, and some even lay brown.
Typically, though, they come in a mix of interesting colors (often similar to other EEs), have a beard and muffs, lay plenty of eggs, and have nice personalities. You're sure to enjoy yours, ours are the most personable in the flock.

I think every breed can range from sweet to mean on an individual level, and of course any specialized
breed will beat them in meat or egg production, but ameraucanas are very hardy,
mine have never been sick, or had any bad tendencies like feather picking or aggression, they adapt
to all kinds of living conditions and easily produce enough eggs for family use. Was it Socrates that
said moderation in all things? He would like ameraucanas.

I LOVE my EEs, which came from Mt. Healthy. I will always have them in my flock. They are excellent layers, are sweet and personable, they get along well with my other hens, and they are cold hardy. Since EEs were actually used to create the Ameraucana breed, I would imagine that Ameraucanas share these wonderful traits. I enjoy the varied colors of EEs, and since most of mine lay a nice blue egg (the few others lay a pretty sage green colored egg), I'm very happy with my EEs. I highly recommend the EEs from Mt. Healthy, although I've not had any EEs from other hatcheries so I can't speak for their stock.
