Our male Khaki Campball was killed last week by a hawk. We miss him dearly as he was so gentle and nice. Our female WH was very attached to him and was very lonely. We replaced him with a Welsh Harlequin drake. The female Welsh Harlequin LOVES him (they have mated five times today that I have seen.) Just wanted to share the new addition. Hopefully this spring we will have little ducklets waddling around.

Thank you! I noticed the female's feet beginning to darken. I understand that is normal for a WH duck? They are both a bit under a year old. Her feet just look a bit odd.

I'm not honestly sure about that but the people on the Welsh Harlequin thread should be able to give you more information on that.

I have not had good luck with those folks :( I have tried and my thread gets lost. I have done some reading on them and they are supposed to turn black as they age, so I guess that is what is going on. She walks fine and is healthy so that was my guess.

Oh that's too bad. I'm not involved in any of the breed threads on here so I'm not sure which ones are more active.

How old is your duck? Most of the information I could find about the feet involved duckling's feet getting darker by 8-12 months.

Thank you for all your help! I appreciate it greatly. She is right in that age range. She was hatched on the farm last spring, as well as the drake (same farm, but different parents.) It has started in the webbing between her "toes." Again, thanks for the help.
