What's a fair price for year-old laying hens in MN?

I was hoping for $10 apiece, but that might be a little too high. I have a variety of heavy breeds - Orps, BSLs, BR, and Australorps. Then again - I checked the prices on our local craigslist and ebayclassifieds and the prices are all over the place. We are in a rural area, so maybe hens aren't as valuable right here.... I have several friends with laying flocks. Do you think $10 is fair?

I have seen them go from $5 to $13 dollars each for the breeds you indicate. I am in Michigan. Last one's I saw sell this summer went for $8 each. They were Orps.

So you think that's fair?

Thanks for your help!

I guess the price is based on supply and demand. If you are in the rural area and most every one around you have chickens, then I think that would be a few bucks too high. If you live in the city like myself, that's a great price. There is a guy who brings his chickens to us city people monthly to sell, he charges $10 dollars for ready-to-lay hens, ? 5-6 month old. I think he sells quite well at that price. Hope this helps.
