I would like to get a blue or green egg layer to add some color to the old basket. However, I really can't get used to the idea of chickens with beards! It's a personal preference I guess. Is there a beardless colored egg layer out there?

I breed my araucana rooster to leghorn hens. The pullets are clean faced rumpless blue egg laying machines! The egg are a pale blue but blue none the less. They are pretty in a basket with eggs from Marans, barred rocks, leghorns and other EE.

There are beardless Easter eggers. You can kinda see the beard at hatch, so if you're buying them from a feed store you could pick a smooth faced one.

Legbars are getting more common in this country, there are several threads about them. Might see if someone in your AO has some available.
