so how do you weigh a bird? stand on the scale and hold it? there's got to be a better way. LOL

You could use a baby scale. I use a kitchen scale, and a lightweight box that holds the chick(en), and I zero the scale to the empty weight of the box.

Use a spring scale. Hang scale at a canvieniant hight. Secure the birds legs together and hang it upside down, by it's legs, from the hook on the scale.
